This non-profit organization wanted to create a new brand identity. They wanted to look more professional and have something they could really identify with as a brand.
They wanted all elements of a brand that they could use through different mediums. This included an overall brand guide that specified the colours, the type, and logo restrictions. Also included was examples of office stationary and website design.
After researching the non-profit organization and meeting with a few board members, I was able to gain an understanding of what the GoldMind Project is about and what they are looking for in a brand identity. After showing different sketches and ideas, I was able to take their critiques and alter the style to address their feedback. I came up with a modernized logo and designed letterheads, business cards, and other business stationary based on the newly created logo. I provided them with a full visual identity package, as well as helping the board members with the website by analyzing and making recommendations on new ideas for layout and structure.
My take away:
This was my first client that was external from school and will actually use my designs for their company. I learned a lot about how to speak with clients and how to contact them and set up meetings with them. I became a real freelancer with this position, and though it was fun, I learned that I will most likely not volunteer for something this big again because it was a lot of work.
